Barranco del Infierno — Adeje

The Barranco del Infierno (Valley of Hell) is a deceptive contrast to Tenerife’s arid south coast. The trail climbs a shaded ravine thick with Canarian willows, cardón cacti and endemic tabaibas, rising to the 80 m Cascada del Infierno — the only year-round waterfall in Tenerife. The dramatic scale of the basalt walls narrows progressively as you ascend.

Access is strictly controlled (300 hikers per day) and online pre-booking is required. The path can be slippery after rain. Return by the same route. Allow extra time if visiting on a cloudy day — the waterfall is at its most impressive after winter rain.
