Trail Overview

The Siete Cañadas route (Trail Nº 3) traverses the floor of Teide’s ancient caldera from west to east, crossing seven distinct “cañadas” — basins created by successive lava flows blocked by the caldera walls. The trail skirts the base of Guajara (2,718 m), the park’s second highest peak, and crosses open pumice desert with uninterrupted views of Teide throughout.

Best done west-to-east (Parador to Portillo) with a taxi or second car at the end, or as part of a longer multi-day park circuit. The route is exposed to the sun — carry 2+ litres of water. The park visitor buses stop at both ends during summer.
